Ice Rink Closing

The Scottish Government announced today that Perth & Kinross and Fife will go into level 3 on Friday morning where, under level 3 rules, no more than 6 people from a maximum of 2 households are allowed per sheet, although under 18’s can continue as now. The Scottish Government have not given any indication of how long the current restrictions will be in place.
This means that:
- most of our curling will not be permissible, and
- waiting and hoping that things improve whilst continuing to incur costly levels of expenditure to maintain the ice is not a viable option.
It is therefore with great regret that the Board have to inform you that the ice rink will close after the 8.30pm game this Thursday, 12th November, and will not reopen before the beginning of next year.
We appreciate that this will be a great disappointment to our curlers. We thank you for your fantastic support for the rink and for taking on board all the changes we asked of you in order to provide a safe curling environment.
Over the coming weeks, we will be monitoring the situation with the aim of starting curling again in January 2021. We will advise you of our plans nearer that date. Those plans will be influenced by the willingness of Clubs and curlers to attempt to reschedule games that will be lost between now and the end of the year, and our ability to find suitable ice times to match demand.
