Kinross Curling

Covid Update

Dear curlers,

I am sure that you will be as concerned as we are about the current coronavirus situation. Although the vaccine is there as the light at the end of the tunnel, the situation just now seems to be right back where we were in March last year, which is very discouraging.

The government has implemented another lockdown again at least until the end of January, and very possibly longer. With the current, more contagious, strain of the virus, it is impossible that the numbers will improved enough to get us back to level 2 in any reasonable time to have any chance of reopening to complete the season.

This is very disappointing as we have worked so hard to meet all the extra requirements, and for 6 weeks it worked very well. It was however not to be, and we have had to accept that reopening this spring is not going to be possible. The safety of our staff and curlers must come first.

On your behalf we want to say a big thank you to the staff for working so hard to get us up and running in October, with great ice, and for taking all the new requirements in their stride.

We also want to thank all of our curlers who have supported us so well. Those of you who did curl enjoyed it despite the new rules. You have been very understanding and supportive through this very difficult season.

Let’s look forward to better times. Until then please stay safe.

Bob Tait, Chairman KCT
